American Beauty
Hybrid Perpetual, 1875

This is a great rose if you can find a good plant of it, heck, if you can find it at all! Most of the roses sold by nurseries as American Beauty are actually another Hybrid Perpetual called "Ulrich Brunner fils", and most of that variety are virused.

Ulrich has smooth canes and fewer petals than American Beauty. American Beauty is thorny and will usually have a pair of hooked prickles just under the base of the leaf bract.

Fantastic fragrance! Fantastic repeat!
Definitely in my top-ten!
